William Van Doren, YOU CAN HEAR THE WHISTLE BLOW A HUNDRED MILES. Sunset from Stony Point, Albemarle County, Va. Oil on canvas, 24 x 30.I was about to paint the sunset when I started thinking about the beautiful twilight I’d seen quite a bit later. At the same time, “500 Miles” by The Journeymen started playing. The title comes from that song.
